Note taker settings
Quick answer
To turn the note taker on for an agent:
- Go to Agents and open your agent.
- Open the Skills tab and choose Note taker.
- Switch on Take notes on this agent's calls.
Cypher N's settings live in a few places, each next to the thing it controls: the agent whose calls it summarises, the emails you receive, and the Google files it writes to. This article lists every setting and where to find it.
Turn recaps on or off for an agent
Each agent has its own note taker switch.
- In the sidebar, select Agents and open the agent.
- Open the Skills tab and choose Note taker.
- Switch Take notes on this agent's calls on or off.
When it is on, Cypher N writes a recap after each call (a summary, the key details and any action items), emails it to you and shows it in the agent's call log. When it is off, the agent's calls still log a transcript, but no recap is written or emailed. Select See every recap in Notes to jump to your recaps.
Choose which emails you receive
- Go to Settings › Notifications.
- Under Email, switch each email on or off, including the recap after every call.
- Changes save straight away.
Notification switches live only in Settings › Notifications. The Automations page links there. Your onboarding answer Email me notes after every call, under Settings › Your setup, records the same preference you chose when you signed up.
File notes in Google Docs
With Google Docs connected, Cypher N saves each meeting as its own Google Doc and keeps a running call-notes doc in your Drive.
- Go to Settings › Integrations.
- On the Google card, select Connect next to Google Docs (and Google Sheets if you want the call log too), then approve access in Google.
- In the Your Google workspace card, select Set up now if the files have not been created yet.
- Use the sync switches to choose what is written: Calls, Bookings, Cypher P and Call notes.
- Select Sync last 30 days to fill the files with recent history.
If Docs is not connected, the end of a meeting shows "Note taker (Cypher N) wrote these notes. Connect Google Docs to keep a copy of every meeting in your Drive." If you switched saving off, it shows that saving to Google Docs is turned off in Integrations.
What the Google files contain
- Call log (Google Sheets): one row per call, booking and payment, updated in place when details change.
- Call notes (Google Docs): a running document with the newest call notes at the top. It also holds Cypher M session summaries.
- One doc per meeting: each meeting Cypher N records is saved as its own Google Doc, listed in Notes › Meeting notes.
The files live in your own Google Drive, so you can share them with your team the same way you share any other doc. Cypher LM only uses the permissions you grant and you can disconnect at any time from Settings › Integrations.
Recommended setup
Most businesses get the best results with the note taker on for every agent that talks to customers, the recap email on for the owner, and Google Docs connected so every meeting is kept in Drive. If your inbox gets busy, switch the recap email off and use the Recaps tab in Calls instead; nothing is lost because recaps stay in the dashboard.
